We’re excited to introduce our eco-forward Clover Turf! For homeowners, landscapers and garden designers seeking a low-maintenance lawn, Clover Turf is a great option. Along with a rich green shade and perhaps some lucky-four-leafed clovers, Clover Turf offers several benefits to your garden, the environment, and local wildlife, including:

Encouraging Pollination: The sweet nectar from clover flowers attracts bees and other pollinating insects, essential for maintaining healthy garden ecosystems.

Chemical-Free Maintenance: It requires less fertilising, reducing the use of harmful chemicals that can affect local ecosystems and water sources; promoting a healthier, more sustainable outdoor environment.

Fixing nitrogen imbalances: Clovers naturally draw nitrogen from the air and convert it into food to feed the turf, soil, and surrounding plants.

Clover Turf attributes

Clover turf is another option for gardeners looking for self-maintained natural turf. The bonuses include:

Drought Resistance: Thanks to its deep-rooting nature, this turf maintains its vibrant colour even during dry spells, conserving water and requiring less irrigation.

Reduced Maintenance: It requires less mowing than traditional lawns, saving time and energy, especially for those not too keen on gardening!

Suitable For Kids and Pets: Like most natural turfs, Clover Turf offers a soft, comfortable lawn for children and pets, making it great for residential gardens and recreational areas.

High Shade Tolerance: Its high drought resilience also means it can survive and thrive in shaded areas.

Laying your Clover Turf

The good news is that Clover Turf works well with all soil types and follows the same turf laying process as any other natural turf product. Our step-by-step guide to laying turf can help you out.

Caring for your Clover Turf

Gardeners looking for easy lawn upkeep will find many advantages to this turf. It’s naturally hardy with a high tolerance to drought and heat. This means it doesn’t need much watering and reduces any stress during heatwaves or hosepipe bans. Furthermore, it’s pretty robust, helping prevent weed invasions, and has a natural resilience to common lawn pests and diseases. Finally, it requires very minimal mowing. So, it basically takes care of itself!

Installing your Clover Turf

It is easy to install and even easier to maintain. It thrives best in well-draining soil and can be rolled out like any other natural turf. Regular watering during the initial establishment period and occasional watering during extremely dry conditions will keep this turf looking its best.

How often do I cut Clover Turf?

The great news is that this turf maintains itself with minimal mowing. During the spring and summer seasons, it typically requires cutting every 3 to 4 weeks, and the ideal mowing height is about 3 inches to promote healthy growth and deter weeds by shading the soil.

Ensure your mower blades are sharp and set to a higher cut to avoid stressing the clover and leave clippings on the lawn as a natural fertiliser. In cooler months, reduce your mowing frequency and allow the clover to grow slightly longer to protect the roots in winter. This will keep your turf looking full and healthy year after year.

How much Clover Turf do I need?

We sell Clover Turf in rolls, and establishing how many rolls of turf you require is very easy. Start by measuring the area which you’re turfing, and then head to our turf calculator. Here, you’ll need to add your measurements, and we’ll calculate the rest. We also recommend adding an extra 5% for any cutting errors.

What is Clover Turf?

Clover Turf is a mixture of small-leaf white clovers and grass seed. Combined, it creates a robust, evergreen, and low-maintenance lawn. The sweet-smelling clovers also attract pollinating insects, increasing and encouraging a range of wildlife and biodiversity.

What are the benefits of clover turf?

If you’re considering clover turf for your domestic garden or landscaping projects, here are some of our favourite features that might help your decision:

  • It’s a natural fertiliser, balancing the levels of nitrogen in your soil
  • Low maintenance; only requiring a few mows per year
  • Maintains its bold, green colour all year round
  • Drought-tolerant and requires little watering
  • Deep roots to maintain a healthy lawn
  • Ideal for shady spots
  • Encourages wildlife and pollination

How often do I need to mow Clover Turf?

Clover Turf is ideal for busy lifestyles or gardeners looking for a low-maintenance lawn. Due to its steady growth and high resilience to various weather conditions, your clover lawn requires very little mowing. During peak growing seasons (spring/summer), you can get away with mowing your clover grass every 3 to 4 weeks. In the winter months, mow your lawn as you put your garden to bed, and you can leave it to look after itself.
