Known for its incredible durability, strength, beauty, and versatility, Egyptian limestone is becoming a popular choice for UK landscaping. So, we made sure to add premium Egyptian Limestone to our stone paving range to support our customers’ and landscapers’ needs.
With that, we’re excited to showcase George Davies Turf & Stone’s range of Egyptian Limestone paving and slim setts!
You can see our Egyptian Limestone range at our St Albans branch. This article compares the ranges, colours and features to help you find the right one for your garden or landscaping project.
Egyptian limestone paving is a natural stone material cut into large slabs and slim setts, so homeowners and landscapers can install stunning patios, paths and features into their outdoor spaces.
Quarried in Egypt, Egyptian Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed from compressed sediments and fossil fragments – hence the beautiful fossil detailing on the stone’s surface that makes it so distinctive.
Formed over millions of years, Egyptian limestone has developed a few key features. Along with its warm, inviting colour palette, it offers amazing strength and durability for years to come, making your investment in Egyptian limestone worthwhile.
At George Davies Turf & Stone, we offer two shades of Egyptian Limestone: Sinai Pearl Beige and Meli Dark Grey.
Sourced from the Sinai region, this range offers soft creams, sunny yellows, and darker browns to create a warm, welcoming feel.
Thanks to its lighter hue, it’s great for smaller spaces to make them feel bigger, or for adding colour and elegance to larger outdoor spaces.
For those looking for something more modern, while still enjoying the properties of Egyptian limestone, Meli Dark Grey Limestone is a fantastic choice.
The blend of light and dark grey creates a sophisticated look ideal for minimalist spaces or industrial-style garden designs, for both domestic and commercial gardens.
We have a wide range of Egyptian Limestone, including different sizes, colours and finishes.
Like most ground cover installations, the best results all come from accurate installation.
Tools you need to install Egyptian Limestone Paving:
Use pegs and string lines to mark out the area you’re looking to pave. Remember to include a gentle fall away from any buildings, about 1.8-2 mm per metre; this will help with water runoff.
Dig deep enough to accommodate a layer of subbase, mortar and the thickness of your paving slabs.
Pour your subbase (MOT Type 1) evenly over the area. You’ll want a smooth, compacted layer of 75mm to 100mm thick for domestic pavements, and 150mm to 200mm for a driveway or commercial space.
Prepare your wet sand and cement mix (aim for a 4:1 ratio). Spread evenly across your subbase and ensure a smooth, level surface.
Clean any dust or dirt from the underside of your Egyptian limestone and apply a natural stone primer slurry. This will strengthen the bond between your slabs and mortar.
Follow your paving pattern and start laying your paving slabs, using a rubber mallet to tap them into place and remove air bubbles. Keep a 3-5mm gap between your pavers, and use a spirit level throughout your installation to ensure an even surface.
We recommend Azpects EasyJoint to grout your limestone paving slabs and create a strong, long-lasting joint. Our Egyptian Limestone paving slabs are pre-sealed, but you can apply another natural stone sealant for added protection if you wish.
Egyptian limestone is a wonderful choice for homeowners or commercial spaces. If you have questions about the different Egyptian Limestone options available, how to install or maintain your Egyptian Limestone, or delivery options, don’t hesitate to contact our customer service team.
At George Davies Turf, we offer two sizes of Egyptian Limestone paving: large-format paving at 900 x 600 x 20mm and slim sett pavers at 200 x 50 x 40mm. Each can be used beautifully on its own or together to create a standout feature.
Egyptian Limestone is low-maintenance and needs minimal cleaning. We recommend cleaning your Egyptian Limestone with soapy water two or three times a year. Sweep it regularly to keep it clear and looking like new.
The Egyptian Limestone range at George Davies is pre-sealed, so it has a protective layer. Egyptian limestone is a natural stone product and also a naturally porous material. Sealing isn’t necessary, but it can help prevent water, moisture, and damage.
Thanks to its strength, durability and versatility, Egyptian limestone can be used for a wide variety of landscaping features, including patios, steps, ground cover, and pathways.
