Measure the length and width of the area you are covering, decide on your depth, then put the figures into our bark calculator. As a rough guide, a 10m² border at 50mm depth needs around 9 bags. Covering a much larger area? A bulk bag usually works out better.
It depends what you want it to do. For a decorative finish on flowerbeds or pathways, 50mm to 75mm is plenty. If you are laying bark mainly to keep weeds down, go for a thicker layer of around 100mm.
