We welcomed over one hundred gardening and landscaping professionals to our George Davies Turf HQ in Olney as part of the British Association Landscape Industries’ (BALI) regional event, ‘Riding the Waves of Business’.
The day included a line-up of presentations, inspirational speakers within the sector and Q&As covering mental health challenges in the industry, environmental changes, business recruitment, staff retention, personal development and more.
George Davies, our founder and managing director said: “There’s no question our industry is shifting due to a number of external challenges such as climate change, recruitment and skills shortages and even mental health, so we were blown away by the success of this event which was all about these usually unspoken about topics.
“We don’t just provide a great product and first-class turf as a business, we want to educate and inspire our customers too, so we were thrilled to be able to run the event on behalf and in partnership with BALI. It was very thought-provoking and many people took away ideas, tips and actions which they can put in place in their businesses.”
Ben Parkinson, director of The Garden Project Co and BALI Midlands Regional Chair added: “The day was insightful, informative and inspiring, and a great opportunity to network and build deeper relationships with others in the industry. A massive thank you to George Davies Turf for hosting– they had the perfect site to be able to deliver our biggest ever regional event and the feedback from attendees was fantastic.”
The event was capped at one hundred attendees due to capacity on the George Davies Turf farm, so organisers were thrilled with the unprecedented turnout.
Francesca Bienek, BALI Regional Support Officer and Richard Kay, BALI National Chair 2020-2022 and BALI Chalk Fund Trustee Chair also delivered talks and presentations.
