George Davies Turf acquires former family-run business St Albans Stone, providing customers with an exciting new range of landscaping products

As of 16 April 2024, George Davies Turf became the proud new owner of Landscape Supplies Herts, formally known as St Albans Stone.

Based in London Colney and set up by Mike Johnson in 2002, St Albans Stone became specialists in the import and sale of natural stone products as well as providing a wide range of landscaping materials including Flagstones, Aggregates and other Landscaping products.

With a large yard conveniently situated on the outskirts of St Albans, customers have travelled from all over to view the wide range of products available and to receive practical advice about their own garden project from Mike and his team.

This personal service and hands-on advice is something our award-winning customer service team look forward to continuing as we take on the business and bring an exciting new range of products to our existing portfolio.

George Davies said, “I’ve known Mike for many years, and we’ve always had a lot of respect for each other having built our businesses from scratch. I’m delighted to be able to grow the business even further and to offer our customers a complete one-stop shop for all their landscaping needs, from turf, topsoil and decking to paving and much more. This is another exciting chapter in the GDT story, and I’d like to thank Mike for the opportunity and wish him well in his retirement.”

Mike said, “Being in a similar industry to George Davies Turf and having premises nearby I’ve got to know George well over the years and I know he shares the same ethos as me and is passionate about providing quality products and treating everyone fairly. It’s reassuring to know I’m handing over the business to someone who values customer service and I know the company is in good hands.”
