Their expertise and attention to detail ensure every outdoor space delivers stunning results. This Hertfordshire garden transformation was no exception.

The requirements

The large family garden in Hertfordshire was ready for a refresh! The existing brick patio had become tired and weathered over time, while the concrete retaining wall and fencing hid the beautiful lawn beyond. The client wanted to open up the space, improve the overall flow of the garden, and create a clear connection between the lower and upper tiers: a big task, but no problem for TM Tree and Landscaping.

To begin, the team carefully removed the old patio and levelled the substrate, ready for custom-made porcelain slabs – we all know the importance of preparing the ground before any stone or turf installation! The concrete wall was replaced with light brown cladding, which instantly softened the space and became the ideal backdrop for a new flowerbed of shrubs and plants.

To achieve the seamless flow from the lower patio to the upper lawn, GDT&S supplied porcelain slabs. These extended the patio area, guiding you towards the garden steps and onto the family-friendly lawn.

The outcomes and results

We were delighted to provide custom-designed slabs for this project. The Kandla Grey Porcelain paving was the perfect match, offering a light, modern look to brighten the space. The soft grey works beautifully against the turf and cladding, and helps the plants to really pop!

Porcelain’s non-porous surface makes it highly resistant to stains, algae, and weather, which means it is a low-maintenance option and perfect for the family hot tub! To complete the installation, the slabs were joined together with Azpect patio grout, ensuring a strong, durable, and professional finish to this patio transformation.

The before-and-after pictures for this project are incredible, and we’re delighted to see everything come together. The once tired garden is now a modern, stylish entertainment space. It just goes to show that you don’t have to choose between hard and soft landscaping. Sometimes, the right blend can create a stunning outdoor area for everyone to enjoy.
