Delivering a beautiful and realistic artificial turf, we can see why Mira-Lux 4m is our most popular artificial turf range. Made from multi-coloured material to provide the brightest shade of green for your lawn, it is also UV resistant, meaning that its lush green shade won’t fade. With robust stain fibres, this is a particularly tough turf, withstanding high footfall from pets, kids and daily wear and tear.

At a pile height of 42mm, this turf provides a low-maintenance lawn with effective water drainage and zero pesticides or fertilisers required – making it an eco-friendly turf option. Mira-Lux 4m sits in our mid-range product spec despite holding premium features such as a lighter shade and brown thatch highlights.

Artificial Grass Installation Guide

Installing on Soil or Existing Grass (with a Containment Border – wall, sleepers, fence etc.)

If your garden already has a boundary in place, follow this method to secure your artificial grass with glue for a cleaner finish and longer-lasting result.

Ground Preparation:
  1. Plan your final height
  2. Remove approximately 100 mm of existing ground to allow for your new lawn to sit level with surrounding areas.
  3. Remove existing grass or soil
  4. Dig out the turf or topsoil to your planned depth. This can be adjusted depending on your desired finish height.
  5. Compact the surface
  6. Use a whacker plate or compactor to firm the area. At this stage, you can apply a weedkiller if required.
  7. Lay the sub-base
  8. Add 25–75 mm of aggregate, level it out, and compact thoroughly.
  9. Apply sharp sand layer
  10. Spread 15–20 mm of sharp sand and compact again to create a smooth, firm surface.
  11. Install weed membrane
  12. Roll out a geotextile membrane over the entire area to prevent weed growth. Stretch it tight and cut to fit.
  13. Lay the artificial grass.
  14. Unroll the turf, leaving 50 mm excess around all edges. For the most natural look, ensure the pile direction faces the main viewpoint (usually the property).
  15. Trim and glue the turf
  16. Trim edges carefully from the underside using a sharp knife. Once aligned, lift the perimeter, apply an artificial glue to the base or edging surface, then press the turf back down and apply pressure along the edges.

Installing on Soil or Grass (without a Containment Border – open edge)

If your area doesn’t have a solid edge, create a cement trim to act as a clean and secure perimeter for fixing.

Ground Preparation:
  1. Excavate to approx. 100 mm depth, adjusting to suit your desired final lawn height.
  2. Compact the soil base.
  3. Use a whacker plate to firm the area. Weedkiller can be applied now if needed.
  4. Create a concrete edge
  5. Pour a 50–75 mm high low haunch (cement border) around the perimeter. Allow it to fully set before continuing. This will hold your base in place and provide a permanent fixing edge for glue.
  6. Lay and compact sub-base
  7. Fill with 25–75 mm of fine aggregate, level and compact thoroughly.
  8. Apply a layer of sharp sand.
  9. Fill up to just below the cement edge. Level and compact to form a smooth base.
  10. Install weed membrane
  11. Lay across the entire area and cut to size, stretching tight to avoid folds.
  12. Unroll and position the turf
  13. Leave at least 50 mm around the edges to allow for trimming. Keep the pile direction facing your main viewing angle.
  14. Trim and glue edges
  15. Cut carefully from the underside. Apply outdoor adhesive directly onto the cement edge, then press down the turf, ensuring full contact.

Joining Artificial Grass

When your project requires more than one roll of grass, follow these steps to achieve a seamless join using glue:

How to Join:
  1. Align the turf
  2. Ensure the pile on both rolls faces the same direction. Lay them side by side and check for a tight, clean fit.
  3. Trim the edges
  4. Carefully trim the factory edges for a neater join. You want a minimal gap between the two pieces.
  5. Apply jointing tape and artificial glue.
  6. Lay jointing tape underneath where the join will sit. Apply a zig-zag bead of artificial glue along the length of the tape.
  7. Secure the join
  8. Carefully fold both turf edges back over the tape, press down firmly, and smooth the join by hand.
  9. Work in small sections
  10. For best results, apply glue 2–3 meters at a time before moving on.
