Branches now open for delivery and limited collection

Dear customer,

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday [23rd March] we have been seeking further clarification from the UK Government about the status of businesses like ours, and if necessary, how we could operate within the Government guidelines.

Following clarification from the Government [25rd March], in conjunction with our industry bodies, we have made the decision to remain open, but offering a delivery service and a limited window for collections from 9am – 3pm for both depots.

We have introduced further social distancing and hygiene measures to protect our colleagues and customers:

  • Our biggest move in light of customer and colleague feedback is to close all our sales counters, the yards for collection have been rearranged and designated loading areas set up, along with asking all landscapers to remain in their vehicles until a member of staff arrives, (after which a 2m distance must be adhered to at all times). You will be able to make orders via phone or email.  This way customers and colleagues can be assured of social distance, our drivers have adopted a safe distance delivery method to ensure both parties remain apart – customers won’t need to physically sign for deliveries, instead our drivers will take a photo of the delivered items and sign for them on your behalf.
  • We have also strengthened guidance to our colleagues to remain at distance from one another, which will be helped by operating without our sales counters. We are providing regular advice to colleagues on maintaining the highest hygiene standards, and increased hygiene measures which include regular cleaning of handles, doors, surfaces etc.

This is not a decision that is easy or has been taken lightly.  While the safety of everyone is our number one priority, it is also critical that we support our customers as well as helping self-employed customers to stay in business, and secure the livelihoods of our colleagues we employ.

All of the changes we are making are designed to limit the risk to our colleagues’ and customers’ health and wellbeing. 

The GDT team will be on hand at the end of the phone to arrange a delivery or collection enabling you to continue to run your business and provide the important services to help support the country.
